Where the stories come from

Every story on this site is retold for children from Richard F. Burton's English translation of One Thousand and One Nights, published in 1885. It is in the public domain. Burton wrote for adults, and his book reflects the attitudes of its time. We soften or leave out what is not right for children, as our editorial policy explains.

How the stories are made

The stories are retold, translated and illustrated by people with the help of Claude, an AI assistant. Every night follows the same written rules and is checked before it is published.

Mistakes can still happen

Even with careful checks, a story, translation or picture may contain a mistake, or something a parent may feel is not right for their child. We recommend that grown-ups read along with younger children, especially at the start of the book.

Tell us and we will fix it

Every night and wiki page has a "Report a problem with this page" link. It opens an email to mandato.agency@gmail.com with the page name and address already filled in. You can also use our contact page.

We read every report, review the page, and fix real problems as soon as we can. When we change a page, we update its date.

Not professional advice

Our wiki and guides explain the history and places behind the stories in simple words. They are for learning and enjoyment, and they are not a substitute for a teacher, a historian or a religious scholar.
