Accessibility
Last updated 25 October 2026.
We want every child to enjoy these stories, including children who use a screen reader, a keyboard, a switch or a magnifier. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we do
- Pictures are described. Every drawing has a written description for screen readers.
- Comic bubbles are real text. Speech bubbles and captions are text, not part of the picture, so they can be read aloud, enlarged and translated. Screen readers also hear who is speaking.
- Listen to any story. The "Listen" button reads the story with a voice on your device and highlights the part being read. Sound effects can be turned off.
- Nothing plays by itself. No sound or video starts until you press a button.
- Keyboard friendly. Every link and button works with a keyboard, and a "Skip to content" link jumps past the menu.
- Right-to-left languages. Arabic, Urdu and Persian pages read from right to left.
- Dark mode. The site follows your device's light or dark setting.
- Text can grow. Pages work when text is enlarged, and on small screens.
Known limits
- The "Listen" button only appears when your device has an offline voice for the page language. Most phones and computers have one for English; for some languages you may need to add a voice in your device settings.
- On very small screens, speech bubbles on the pictures can be small. The same words are read out by screen readers and the narrator.
